Aerospace Standard AS5553 Counterfeit Electronic Part Avoidance, Detection, Mitigation & Disposition
November 1, 2010: SG INDUSTRIES BECOMES THE FIRST INDEPENDENT DISTRIBUTOR TO ACHIEVE AEROSPACE STANDARD AS5553 COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION!
Customers must be able to count on the expertise of their suppliers to eliminate this threat. Distributors in the supply chain must take this seriously and put appropriate measures in place to keep counterfeit components from getting into the field. In an effort to maintain our leadership position in quality control, SG Industries aggressively pursued and achieved compliance certification to AS5553. This unaccredited certification ensures that SG Industries' Business and Quality Management System has robust processes in place to address the risks associated with counterfeit parts in the supply chain. A successful site audit of SG Industries Quality Management System against the AS5553 Guidance Standard on November 1st, 2010 by National Quality Assurance (NQA) resulted in NQA's recommendation for SG Industries to receive an unaccredited compliance certification to the AS5553 Standard. AS5553 was created in response to a significant and increasing volume of counterfeit electronic parts entering the aerospace supply chain, posing significant performance, reliability and safety risks. Organizations compliant to this standard employ a Quality Management System designed to provide uniform requirements, practices and methods to mitigate the risks of receiving, installing, and enabling counterfeit components to enter the supply chain.
